How to Choose a Day Service Wisely
Share
Hello. I'm Maana, a caregiver. This time, I want to write about how to choose the right day service, something I know firsthand from working at one.
Day services are subject to the Long-Term Care Insurance Act, and generally, individuals requiring long-term care levels 1 to 5 can use them. Care managers will introduce places that match the individual's preferences, but before starting to use a service, I strongly recommend visiting or, if possible, trying it out.
This is because the building structures vary greatly from facility to facility. I'd like you to check things like how many steps there are, whether handrails are available where needed, if the width of the corridors and the size of the toilets are sufficient for a wheelchair, and if the bathroom is suitable for your physical condition. It's also important whether the shuttle bus has a lift function. It's not simply about having well-equipped facilities. It's also important to have a staff system that supports what one can do on their own, rather than simply relying on wheelchairs or electric seats.
Also, it's a good idea to ask people who are actually attending for their impressions. Compatibility with staff and other users is also important.
Even if you become ill and need care, you can choose from various services while using long-term care insurance. Let's make the most of the day service that suits you and your family, and live a fulfilling life.
