Find a hobby!

Hello. My name is Yamamoto, and I am an active caregiver.
Today, I'd like to write about "hobbies" in the caregiving field. When you hear about hobbies in caregiving, you might have a "limited image," but in reality, there are people who enjoy a variety of hobbies.
Some people enjoy gardening in the facility's garden, others start drawing with colored pencils, and so on; people have a wide range of hobbies. There is also a theory that having hobbies can slow down the progression of dementia, and our facility promotes this.
Furthermore, some elderly individuals become interested in English conversation and even acquire qualifications such as Eiken, which sometimes surprises the staff. There are also people who enjoy watching anime, saying, "I got hooked after watching it with my grandchild."
As you can see, having even just one hobby brings many positive effects, such as making new friends and adding zest to life.
Therefore, when providing care, why not try to find a hobby together?
