Are nursing care products tax-deductible under long-term care insurance?
Share
When you are certified for long-term care insurance, you can use various long-term care insurance services. Expenses covered by long-term care insurance include not only the costs of long-term care services but also the costs of purchasing long-term care products. In addition, the cost of "renting" welfare equipment such as long-term care beds and wheelchairs can be covered with a co-payment of 10% to 30%. This is called welfare equipment rental (rental) or specific welfare equipment sales (sales).
However, it is important to note that the "purchase" of wheelchairs and long-term care beds is not covered by long-term care insurance services. If you purchase them, you will have to bear the full cost, so caution is required. When deciding whether "rental" or "purchase" is best for you, it is necessary to consider how long the long-term care will last and also the wishes of the person actually using the equipment.
As such, while "long-term care products" are generally assumed to be purchased, in some cases, it is more economical to rent "welfare equipment" such as wheelchairs and long-term care beds. If you are unsure, we recommend actively consulting with your care manager.
